Unsere Ziele
Die Gesellschaft gegen Gewichtsdiskriminierung (GgG) e.V. setzt sich dafür ein, die Diskriminierung von Menschen anhand ihres Körpergewichts zu beenden und ein Bewusstsein für Gewichtsdiskriminierung als Menschenrechtsthema zu schaffen.
Unser zentrales Anliegen ist es, durch Bildungsarbeit die gesellschaftliche Sensibilität für Gewichtsdiskriminierung zu stärken. Dabei vermitteln wir in unseren Fortbildungen fundierte Informationen und bieten Aufklärung an, um für einen respektvollen Umgang mit Menschen unabhängig von ihrem Körpergewicht zu sorgen. Gleichzeitig setzen wir uns in verschiedenen Gremien und Initiativen dafür ein, dass auch in rechtlicher Hinsicht Fortschritte erzielt werden, denn bisher gibt es beispielsweise keinen gesetzlich verankerten Schutz vor Gewichtsdiskriminierung in Deutschland.
Wir fordern daher die Erweiterung des Allgemeinen Gleichbehandlungsgesetzes (AGG) und der entstehenden Landesantidiskriminierungsgesetze um das Merkmal „Gewicht“. Unsere Bildungs- und Präventionsarbeit unterstreicht, dass diese Schutzlücke dringend geschlossen werden muss, und schließt Aufklärungskampagnen wie #AGGmitGewicht und #LADGmitGewicht mit ein.

Was wir tun
Wir fördern gesellschaftlichen Wandel durch Aufklärung, Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Prävention. Gemeinsam mit vielen weiteren Akteur*innen aus dem Bereich Antidiskriminierung kämpfen wir für eine Gesellschaft, in der Gewichtsvielfalt ganz selbstverständlich als Teil der menschlichen Vielfalt verstanden wird.

Aufklärung
Wir schulen und sensibilisieren für einen respektvollen Umgang mit hochgewichtigen Menschen.
Prävention
Wir beraten und leisten Präventionsarbeit gegen Gewichtsdiskriminierung, z. B. im Praxisbeirat der Charité.
Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
Durch Kampagnen und Aktionen machen wir auf die Diskriminierung hochgewichtiger Menschen aufmerksam.
Vernetzung
Alleine geht es nicht, dann fehlen Perspektiven und Schlagkraft, deshalb sind wir mit vielen Organisationen vernetzt.
